Week Three Session 1 & 2

Session One
Define/Ideate/Prototype/Test

I planned out the initial sequence for the visual brief as part of independent homework. These we to set the initial mood for the direction I wanted the brief to go towards. Visualising the brief was particularly hard because I had to consider imagery. As of the moment I'm still unsure whether to use illustration, vector images, photography etc.

I then began to story board by myself and ideas that came up were using thinking from the perspective of students (high school & uni), recipe layouts, use of food literally and rhetorically.

I made my initial 8 spreads for critique tomorrow.

Session Two
Empathy/Define/Ideate/Prototype

Today in class we presented our 2 mock up spreads. The ones I chose were issue and background.
I was still very unsure with imagery so the images above do not look consistent or cohesive. Another issue that arose was me and my partners conflicting interest on what visual style we wanted to approach. We decided to split off for 5 minutes to generate imagery on our own.

When we came back together I noticed that my partner was interested with the biological imagery (human organs) whereas I was really focused on food imagery. Before class ended we concluded that we weren't going to become cohesive anytime during that lesson. I told my partner that we should generate our own imagery over the weekend and consider a broader range of imagery. I would try to include the organs while she would consider food.

Week Two Session 1 & 2

Session One
Empathy/Ideate

This class we were suppose to decide on a topic and ideally form a group. My initial idea for an issue to tackle is something to do with nutrition. However as we were laying down our concepts as a class I again became quite unsure of how to proceed or what concept to choose which resulted in me not being able to form a group by the end of class.

Session Two
Define/Ideate

At the beginning of the lesson I was still quite unsure as I hovered between the topics I was interested in doing (nutrition and the role of masculinity in mental wellbeing). Finally I decided on Nutrition and formed a group with my current partner. I felt that nutrition was a more open-ended topic and I saw a lot of potential in how to approach the brief. We quickly made an A3 image in preparation for the Exchange.

Exchange

Met up with my group today. I found it interesting how different people from different industries were exploring the concept of wellbeing. I realise I need to do more solid research so that I may present something more thorough next time.

Week One Session 1 & 2

Session One

We briefly touched the aim of this paper. We were put in groups to talk share our "good" and "bad" experiences. I have little to no understanding of the brief.

Session Two
Define/Ideate

In the second session we did more exercises. The first to see how we were doing in terms of whether we knew how to proceed. I was on the end of the "unsure" line. Afterwards we did some other exercises that I did not find particularly useful (the "superhero" sheets). When we began brainstorming ideas for topics/issues I had a better yet still undecided image of how to approach the brief.
